Job Order Contract (JOC)

Construction contractor is selected through a qualifications based process from a short list of firms that have been awarded unit-price contracts generally for capital projects under $2M. These contracts are awarded periodically via a Request for Proposal (RFP) process.

Construction Manager at Risk (CMR)

Construction contractor is selected through a qualifications based process for capital projects to provide pre-construction and construction services for specific projects.

Design Build (DB)

A design-build team is selected for certain specific projects through a qualifications based process for capital projects. The request includes both design and construction services under a single contract. The selection is typically a 2-stage process including a public Request for Qualifications (RFQ) followed by a Request for Proposal (RFP) to shortlisted firms. Notification and submittal requirerments are publicly advertised in the project-specific RFQ.

Design & Specification Standards

The Facilities Design & Construction department maintains the University of Arizona standards for design and construction. These Design and Specification Standards (DSS) are utilized in the design of new facilities, remodels, renovations, and maintenence efforts. The DSS is also the standard of execution relative to Job Order Contract work unless specified otherwise.
