Design & Specification Standards

The Planning Design & Construction department maintains the University of Arizona standards for design and construction. These Design and Specification Standards (DSS) are utilized in the design of new facilities, remodels, renovations, and maintenence efforts. The DSS is also the standard of execution relative to Job Order Contract work unless specified otherwise.

Selection Processes
Annual Request for Qualifications (ARQ)

Design Professionals are generally selected for projects with fees less than $250,000 ($500,000 for some disciplines) from a shortlist of pre-qualified firms. Firms are pre-qualified through the Annual Request for Qualifications process.

Design Professionals are generally selected for projects with fees above $250,000 through a qualifications based process that is specific to a project.
