| Description: This gift-funded, new facility, named McClelland Park, will house the John and Doris Norton School of Family and Consumer Sciences in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. The Norton School is comprised of two academic units and supports three auxiliary institutes. The project addresses both the quality and quantity of space, and consolidates the programs into one location. Status: Compilation of the punchlist is complete on Levels 2, 3, and 4. Installation of acoustical panels is progressing the large classrooms. Landscape and hardscape development of the Park Ave and 4th St corridors adjacent to the building are nearing completion. Construction Dates: November 2006 to May 2008 2. HAZARDOUS WASTE FACILITY ENCLOSURE Description: Risk Management & Safety processes chemical waste generated by campus lab activities in a facility that has inadequate capacity, security and temperature control for its staff. The two new structures will provide fully enclosed space on the site of the existing facility, and will include segregated areas for waste container processing, analytical testing, storage for shipment, supply storage, and office support space. Status: Schematic Design Phase complete. Evaluation of project cost estimates from Architect and Construction Manager at Risk in process. Construction Dates: July 2008 to April 2009 3. INTERCOLLEGIATE ATHLETICS FAC ADDITIONS & RENOV Description: Project is comprised of 3 distinct elements that will enhance the quality of training and competition facilities for several athletic programs. This is part of the ICA long-term plan to upgrade facilities as donor funding becomes available. Goals include enhancing training facilities and improving the ability to recruit top-level student athletes and coaches. The elements are an Indoor Practice Facility, Gymnastics Training Facility Expansion and Hillenbrand Aquatic Center Diving Pool. Status: See individual project elements for current status. Construction Dates: April 2007 to October 2008 4. PARKING LOT IMPROVEMENTS 2008 Description: Construct nine new parking lots with lighting, a total of 290 spaces. Status: Survey work is complete and design is proceeding. Construction Dates: June 2008 to August 2008 5. SIXTH STREET RESIDENCE HALLS Description: Addition of two new residence halls to the campus will improve the quality and increase the quantity of on-campus residence hall space for undergraduate students. A total of 1,070 beds will be constructed at two separate sites. The halls will be organized into learning communities to promote academic success and self-development, and improve recruitment and retention of students. Status: This project is in the design development phase. Construction Dates: November 2008 to September 2010 6. STUDENT RECREATION CENTER EXPANSION Description: Expansion of the Student Recreation Center will provide additional fitness facilities for weight training and cardio equipment; additional gymnasium/court facilites in the form of a Multipurpose Athletic Court (MAC) for expanded sport/recreation program offerings; space for Outdoor Adventures, which offers student, faculty and staff outdoor recreational trips; and much needed landscaped outdoor space for casual recreation activites for the Department of Campus Recreation. Status: The building expansion GMP has been accepted. Utilities work on site has started. Both the building construction and utilities work north of 6th Street will start after spring commencement. Construction Dates: May 2008 to November 2009 7. THE LAW COMMONS Description: This project is part of the James E. Rogers College of Law's long-range plan to enhance its national reputation as a top-tier law school. Critical steps will include modernizing the library; providing additional and improved spaces for student activities and organizations; increasing space for visiting faculty and scholars; modernizing instructional space while integrating technology; and fundamentally transforming the experiential character of the facility. Status: Glazing at the north and south elevation is progressing. Drywall and taping are continuing at all levels. Painting has started at Level 1. Development of the lightwell is progressing. Sitework completion and planting of trees is continuing. Construction Dates: May 2007 to July 2008 8. UA SCIENCE CENTER / ARIZONA STATE MUSEUM Description: The University of Arizona Science Center (UASC) and Arizona State Museum (ASM) is part of Phase I of the City of Tucson's downtown redevelopment project. UASC will be a new state-of-the-art science based center connecting the expertise generated at the UA with the community. The new Arizona State Museum facility will house the bulk of its public programs for exhibits & education. The facilities will share services and resources. Ref sub-Project 05-8617 Status: The IGA with the City of Tucson has been approved by COT and ABOR. Negotiations regarding revised scope and budgets are proceeding with the CM@R. The concept report has been submitted, the project is in the Schematic Design Phase. Construction Dates: March 2009 to September 2011 9. UMC EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT AND BED TOWER EXPANSION Description: University Medical Center recently announced that the project will now include the Diamond Children's Medical Center on the upper three floors of the project. The scope for the first three floors is the same: a new emergency department (ED) and two floors of medical/surgical and ICU beds. The new 190,000 sq. ft., six-story facility is being built directly north of and connected to the existing hospital. A new heliport will be built on the roof of the tower. Status: The new emergency generator will be complete and the steel structure for the main facility is being erected. The Children's hospital is in design development. Warren & Cherry continue to be closed to traffic. Emergency, delivery and staff access is maintained. Scheduled completion is now 2010.
